DATES FOR SECOND ROUND OF APPLICATIONS FOR THE NEW MASTERS OF ARTS IN PHOTOJOURNALISM FOR EU/EEA CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS BEGINS MARCH 15 – APRIL 16.

The new international program starting in the Fall of 2012 builds on our already unique bachelor’s education in photojournalism at Mid Sweden University, the first and only university in Sweden to offer studies in the subject of photojournalism. The two-year master program will be unique in Europe, in terms of its length and depth and in its focus on the creative process.

APPLICATION DEADLINES:

For citizens and permanent residents of Sweden and also applicants that are citizens from the 30 countries that are members the European Union (EU), the EEA (European Economic Area; Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and Switzerland the application deadline is now open between March 15 to April 16, 2012. Click here.

For applicants that are NOT citizens or residents of the countries above the application deadline is: January 16, 2012. Click here.

The master program, which will be taught in English, is for those who are interested in developing skills in visual storytelling and who have a university degree in photojournalism or a related field followed by at least two years professional experience in a relevant area. The Master degree will prepare students for a career in photojournalism, picture editing, leadership positions in the media industry as well as teaching.

The program is full-time and combines practical coursework—in photojournalism, visual documentary and reportage—with courses in the history of photography, visual theory and ethics. The Master Seminar, which runs throughout the entire program parallel to other courses, is a forum for students to share and discuss their own work and the work of others. The Master Thesis, to be completed during the final semester, is a creative visual project.

For more information about the program, prerequisites and application procedures go here.
